First autocross - Details

Ok, here are the details. Running now this year:

8psi, Safeguard, Kumho 225/50's, Kosei K1 Racing 15x7 wheels, OE Sport springs and Bilstein shocks.

Overall, Very nice. Much improved from last year. I can say that I can put down much more power.

The only problem is that the 225/50's rub in the back. I even rolled up the fendor lip on site a bit, and it helped but under a hard driving, it still rubbed. I think I'll get some 205/50's. Anyway, times were very good. Beat most cars, and got beat too. I have my times, but I'll post the times for a few select cars. My buddy Geek had good times too, very close, I had times just faster than his. It was really hard with the rubbing... I mean really hard, and it was difficult keeping concentration and also I had too let off as I heard the rubbing.

I think if I address the rubbing, I can cut off another 1-2 seconds. Still for SM it was a little slow. A nationally ranked CSP CRX ran a 42, and I with my 48. Civic si ran 53, and a couple of Subaru RS 2.5's at 50 or so, anyway that gives you an idea. I should have been around 46, but again, with the rubbing it was hard. First year on slicks, 8psi, springs and shocks, I'm learning to drive this car all over. Sure is fun.

Keep the 225/50s for future use up front, then put a pair of 205/50s in back. The car will rotate much better. I've run 225/50s in back with no rubbing, but on stock springs. You could probably make them work with the right backspacing and some fender rolling, but there's no use, they don't do much work back there anyways.

At this point you would really benefit from an LSD, but first I'd invest in some driving schools and practice sessions.

Just think that the CRX could put your motor in it and be legal for SM. Then we're really in trouble!

Yeah, I think I'll just get a pair of 205/50's. I hope the fit, cause if they rub in back, I'm dead.

My rear's got corded. I had strips of rubber taken out from where they rubbed. I can say that with some rolling, it might work, but I am not willing to spend another $600 on tires to find out. As for spacing, it is setup so it wont rub on the inner control arm. I think we might have a mm to play with, but not enough room. The CRX can't run in StreetMod cause it only has 2 seats. But even then, if you look at a PAX calculator, we should be running a few .10's faster than CSP cars. Granted, we are talking National ranking car and drivers, but still. Will the Teg ever be competetive in SM, probably not. Think about getting a DSM AWD Turbo, and bumping the boost. Or think about a Civic Hatch with a worked over engine. There is not much room to work with in weight reduction, maybe 150lbs, so we are destined to be racing against each other.

What is the offset on the K 1's ? I thought that they didn't make the correct offset for int/civ. Might be part of the problem.
